Everything You Need To Know About Kinesiology
The word ‘Kinesis' in Greek means movement and Kinesiology studies the relationship between the quality of muscular movement and overall health. Kinesiology deals with methods of maintaining good health through proper functioning and movement of all the muscles in the body.

Kinesiology originally developed from the practice of chiropractic in the early 1960s.  Originally called Applied Kinesiology it was designed as an assessment system for chiropractors.  Later a system was developed and released for the general public.  Since then it has become a seperate system to chiropractic (although many chiropractors still use it) with many different styles of kinesiology developing.

Originally Applied Kinesiology (or AK) began with Research and Philosophy by Dr George Goodheart DC of Detroit, Michigan in America. His work found that evaluation of normal and abnormal body function could be accomplished by using muscle testing.  He eventually included the evaluation of the nervous system, vascular system, lymphatic system, nutrition, acupuncture, and cerebrospinal fluid function.   It was exclusive to the chiropractic profession originally because corrections were mostly for spinal subluxation corrections but branched out to medical doctors and dentists.

Applied kinesiology (AK) uses the study of muscles and the relationship of muscle strength to health. It incorporates a system of manual muscle testing and therapy. AK is based on the theory that an organ dysfunction is accompanied by a specific muscle weakness. Diseases are assessed diagnosed through muscle-testing procedures and then treated accordingly.
