Colonic Irrigation

Colonic irrigation, also known as colon hydrotherapy, is considered a safe and painless procedure in which accumulated faecal matter is gently released from the colon by introducing warm filtered water. Special massage techniques may be used to help soften the deposits and cleanse the colon.  Colonic irrigation should only be performed by an accredited professional in a clinic with the entire procedure taking less than an hour.

Colonics could be described as a water therapy to cleanse your colon.   A small speculum with an attachment of plastic hose is inserted into the patient's rectum. The plastic hose is connected to a colonic machine which controls the volume and temperature of the water that passes into the hose that takes the water to the patient's rectum and cleansing the entire colon.

The volume of water within the colon varies according to individual tolerance. The gush of water induces peristaltic or muscular contractions in the colon resulting in fecal matters from the patient's colon being ejected.  The waste matter expelled through a clear plastic tube.

Throughout the colonic the therapist may lightly massage the parts of the abdomen to help free the encrusted wastes on the walls of the colon which removes the old fecal matter.  It can appear dark black in color as it comes out through the tube.

Usually several treatments are recommended with occasional regular cleansing to keep the colon healthy.
